Vodka, one of the oldest liquors on record, traces its roots back some 1100 years. Vodkas were originally flavored with... well, everything (acorns to horseradish to mint etc.). Almost all European country produces vodka, and most also have local flavored varieties. A personal note: vodka is the best ace in the hole, since it can be mixed with pretty much anything you have lying around. Soda, juice, milk; pretty much anything can be improved with vodka!
